How to pick names without repeats and handle shared names

“Without repeats” can mean keeping labels unique within a round or giving each person one turn. Start by defining the rule for your list.

One entry per participant

Paste one name per line. Remove accidental duplicates from copied spreadsheets. Two lines representing the same person increase that person’s combined chance and create a different draw.

People with the same name are separate participants. Use numbers or recognizable aliases such as “Alex 1” and “Alex 2”. Check capitalization too: “Anna” and “anna” count as different labels in a multiple-winner draw. Use equal weights when every participant should have an equal chance.

Pick one name at a time

Enable “Remove after a spin” when the selected participant should sit out later rounds. After the result, the selected label is removed. Other entries with the same label remain.

With removal disabled, the list stays unchanged and a name can be picked again. A repeated outcome does not itself indicate an error. Spinning is unavailable with one entry remaining: the last participant is already known. Restore your saved list to start a fresh sequence.

Select several participants at once

“Pick multiple winners” selects 2–100 distinct labels, limited by the number of unique labels on the wheel. Within that draw, identical labels are combined and their weights summed. Each selected label is removed from the temporary pool.

Copy or download the resulting list. Without removal enabled, the original wheel stays intact, so the next group draw may include the same participants. Enable removal or use the remove-winners button to keep them out of subsequent rounds.

Keep the original roster

Before a long sequence, export the wheel as JSON or create a backup of the current tool. Undo can restore removed entries within the session, but its history disappears after a page reload.

Entries and draw results are separate data. Undoing entry removal does not delete draw history. If you need to assign everyone to groups, use the team generator: it includes each input line exactly once rather than selecting only winners.
